Prices are estimates. Final cost is confirmed after we inspect your rug. Heavily soiled rugs, pet damage, or fragile antique pieces may require additional treatment. We'll always quote you before we begin.
Step 1
How to Measure Your Rug
Rug cleaning is priced per square foot, so an accurate measurement helps you get the most realistic estimate. Here's how to do it in under two minutes:
- 1Lay the rug flat on the floor — don't measure it while it's rolled or folded.
- 2Use a tape measure to find the longest side (length) in feet.
- 3Measure the widest point perpendicular to the length.
- 4Multiply width × length to get square footage. Example: 8 ft × 10 ft = 80 sq ft.
- 5For round rugs, measure the diameter and use: diameter × diameter × 0.785.

Step 2
How to Identify Your Rug's Fiber
Fiber type is the biggest factor in cleaning cost. Check the label on the back first — if there isn't one, use these clues to identify the material.
Wool
- Feels soft and slightly springy underfoot
- Pile bounces back when pressed
- Burns slowly with a smell like burning hair
- Often hand-knotted with visible knots on the back
Synthetic (Nylon / Polyester / Polypropylene)
- Very uniform pile height and texture
- Feels slightly plastic or slippery
- Machine-made with a woven or glued backing
- Often has a care label sewn to the back
Cotton & Flatweave
- Thin, flat, and lightweight
- No pile — both sides look similar
- Kilims and dhurries fall in this category
- Often reversible
Oriental / Persian
- Hand-knotted — knots visible on the back
- Intricate geometric or floral patterns
- Wool or silk pile, cotton foundation
- Fringe is an extension of the warp threads, not sewn on
Silk
- Extremely soft with a lustrous sheen
- Colors shift when viewed from different angles
- Very fine, dense pile
- Often labeled "Art Silk" or "Bamboo Silk" for blends
